After reading Voyage around my Room by Xavier de Maistre, I agree with the character’s point that we could go on an adventure to some places even though we’re in our own room. It isn’t that bad to observe things in your room. You may discover the things that have been lost for a long time. In addition, compared to a situation like Covid-19 that we have to quarantine in nowadays, before this pandemic spreaded all over the world, we don’t even have time to think about our lives that much because all we do is work and work all the time. I think we should take this as an opportunity to consider yourselves with any actions you had done to somebody else or other people’s actions that they had done to you.

Moreover, the book is one of the things that can make us lost in imagination just like in this story. Reading books won’t cost much, so people can learn and enjoy it in order to escape from the cruel situation or society. It can teach us new experiences or new friendship. I think if you have friends who love to read books just like you did, you can discuss with each other and increase relationships at the same time. I remembered during the school break, I did not go anywhere, and I felt like I’m bored with life, so I bought some books to read. It felt like I enjoy it all the time, and I could imagine the main characters by myself. Unlike watching movies, in which each character, they were portrayed already.

Not only that, I cannot deny that books can change humans’ lives because of the books, I had found the meaning of life from reading “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. At first, I always have a question like why do we have to be born? What’s the point of living? After I read it, it made me realise that because I don’t give a meaning of life to something, my life became worthless. Then, I started to give the meaning of life to the things that I love to eat or a place where I love to go. Books teach me that sometimes, life is not that complicated; in fact, it is really simple. Humans just made life complicated by following the rules of the society too much. Therefore, that’s why I understand the point of the character in the story that he said he can travel and meet some new people without leaving his own room.
